Sad Day in Fashion History

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN - R.I.P

Today is a sad day. It's beautiful outside, the snow fell last night and I am alive and well, however, today is still a sad day. The Fashion world has lost one of the most coveted and visionary designers of the 21st century - Alexander McQueen. McQueen was a risk taker and a dare devil, never afraid to let his own light shine and be himself (a note to the rest of us to thine ownself be true) in this usually commercially driven realm of fashion. It's sad to know that someone can feel so lost, down, depressed, unloved and unwanted that they decide life is no longer worth living. Reports have stated that McQueen's mother passed away a few days ago and I think any of us who have close relationships with our mothers can attest to how he may have felt, but something else was plaguing this man. I pray for him and for those around him who genuinely cared for him as a person, not just a well noted and world renowned designer.

We're going to miss out on all the things this man would have been able to achieve and accomplish in our lifetime. I purchased my first pair of McQueen shoes last year and I am so happy that I did - a very unusual pair for him to design, dainty with a bow and rose pink. I sashayed around the dance floor with them on all night and it felt good! RIP Alexander McQueen. You will be missed.

Before I give you all some more AMA fever - Fearless in Fashion as I mentioned yesterday (and BTW the damn blogger program kept freezing so I have to post the images today, better late than never right?!), my original BOO, my number ONE, KELIS is BACK. She's my kindred spirit and twin (some days we look alike a lot; I've been asked if we're related - I usually get excited when people say that lol because I mean she's do darn cute).

Her new song, which should be hitting airwaves soon, is a dancers dream: uptempo beats, euro club sound and Kelis' monotone voice over the track - who can ask for more. Listen up for yourselves. My girl nails this one and I'm ready for her comeback.

AMA's 2009 - I'M SO HARD

Well, well, well. Last night was pretty eventful I must say. The Eagles won the game, my boo Shakira is back and Whitney Houston has definitely had the comeback of the year. The 2009 AMA's were full of excitement and great performances. Of course without a doubt, my babygirl Rihanna freaked it! I know, I know, she is not the GREATEST performer out there, but she looked amazing and when the lights went down and her shoulder pads started to flicker with laser beams, I was sold! I need a jacket that does that now lol.

J.Lo put on her Louboutins and showed us, despite busting her bums on the stage, that she has still got it. I thought her performance was super cute and the way she changed her outfit on stage in the seat was real slick. Go Jenny.

Mary, as always, looked nice and sexy for her age. She will always and forever be the Queen of Hip Hop. Her ballads have helped women through many a trial and tribulation; her new sense of self appreciation through song is right on time!

The J the A the N the E the T the T the T the T its Janettttt hold up. Its Janetttt! Janet ripped the stage last night. At 43 Ms. Jackson is still killing us softly with her dance moves and grandiose performances. She looked amazing on stage and she still has it. Her tribute at the end to Michael was heartfelt. I wonder if everyone got it, "everywhere I go, every star I see, I know you are there, smiling back at me." We miss you Mike.

Lady Gaga is so weird, but it makes so much sense for her. No one else could pull off alienesque foam coverings over their shoes and face the way she did and make it look hot! Breaking the glass bottles over the piano keys was a unique touch to her performance.

Shakira, Shakira, Shakira - you better WORK. This Colombian/Lebanese beauty is back with a vengance and looked killer on stage in her Balmain dress. Though the step sequence had me feeling like I was watching my Sorors work it out on stage, it was ubercute and added edge to the performance.

All I can say about this performance is you go Whitney! This woman has persevered through a lot. No, her voice will never sound the same, but you name me one new female artist that can withstand what she has been through and still have people on their feet and in tears! Whitney is the ish and she will always and forever be just that.

Call Me Ms. Jackson If You're Nasty

In a heartfelt interview with Robin Roberts last night on ABC, Janet Jackson, Ms. Jackson if you're nasty NAILED IT! She is uber-adorable and always seems to maintain her cool in an interview no matter the severity of the question. She looked phenomenal as always and her soft voice always makes me want to shed a tear. Janet seemed geninuely at peace and ease with her brothers situation and I loved when she said "Robin I know you're not going to ask me that." Good one J.

Seeing clips of Ms. Jackson in her heyday brought back many memories for me and I actually shed a tear. Overall I say this interview was a 10! And Janet I think you are goregous just the way that you are!

P.S. Now next time I do need to seem some polish on those nails missy. A lil Wicked or Berry Hard would have completed your look. Next time though. Next time.

So in true NY fashion, my Yankees took home a World Series win for 2009! I've been telling folks that this year was going to end with a bang and 2010 was going to be an even better one so let's hear it for my boys in stripes and say THANK YOU for nailing it in 09! And ladies, in true nail it fashion if you want to support our boys for the rest of November, pay them a lil blue homage with Essie's Midnight Cami - it's a sure winner.

So, I know all of you are annoyed with Rih Rih right now and her 'victim' behavior, but as always my boo is NAILING it with her music and fashion swag. I'm not sure if I am on the bandwagon of her being a devil worshipper because of Russian Roulette - I think the song is FIRE! I've related it more to being in love with someone and them hurting you're heart vs. her really wanting to kill herself. FAIL.

Folks have been sleeping on Amerie since her first album All I Have and let me inform you all at once, she NAILS it! I don't think she gets enough play from the radio stations and her A&R sucks big time, but my girls ballads will definitely have you feeling like she was in your head or reading your diary as she belts out tunes that all of us can relate to. I mean I am still on "It's this one thing that got me trippin/it's this one thing that got me trippin you/this one thing the song made me feel it/its this one thing you do ohhhooohhhhh." Whitney NAILS It - Million Dollar Bill Video Premiere

Whit Whit is definitely back in full effect! A smashing performance two weeks ago on Good Morning America solidified her spot back in the music game. Her upbeat, uptempo joint, Million Dollar Bill, has been hitting the airwaves hard in the past couple of weeks. So without further a do, here is the video. I HEART it!

The entire ambiance created matches the lyrics perfectly and I must say that the autumn color scheme is perfect for the feeling of the song - warm. Loads of colors for fall are present, burnt oranges, reds, gold, nudes - ladies take a cue from the set designer for this shoot. Your nail palette should be along these lines for fall. Check out Essie's fall collection, Chinchilly and Midnight Cami I think are going to be two of my favs this season.

We all know OPI has launched the Espana Collection and Matte Collection for fall - Lincoln Park After Dark will NOT steer you wrong.

I think in all of the years of my obsession with fashion, I have NEVER heard Ms. Wintour speak! I actually think this was a great interview for her to have done - it showed that she can be witty, she can take a joke and everything in her life is not always que serious!

I appreciated her honesty in saying that though she is not the devil she is "very decisive, knows what she wants, and sometimes that's not what other people want to hear....." ANNA I am on your SIDE. For those of us that can be direct, honest, forward, confident, slightly arrogant from time to time, maybe even a little conceited, it doesn't take anything away from our sensitivity.

Not to mention, her haircut - BANGIN! So blunt and flowly at the same time and her swag is unmatched. Who walks onto the David Letterman show with shades?!?! Loved the dress and baubles. Overall Anna Wintour NAILED IT!

Can't wait to go see the September Issue. In theatres Friday, August 28th. Don't miss it.

And though I am still not sure how I feel about the oval shaped nails for an every day look - she pulls it off. The simplicity and the daring-ness of choosing red for that shape is the smart choice.

Ladies, if you are going to try this please ensure that you spend a lil doe - nothing worse than badly shaped acrylics because you were trying to save a few bucks. Go hard or go home~!

SIDEBAR: I am definitely feeling this retro 80's look. The Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse sunglasses are fire (that hot pink is very much up my alley; I may have to snag those), the open toe boots give the overall look a slightly updated edge and the acid wash denim actually works.

AHHH YES!! As always and I admitting this whole hearted-ly, as a true HARLEMITE, Jigga Man NAILS IT with this video. The styling, the concept, Kanye, my fellow Bajan Princess RIHANNA I mean what more could you ask for? I must say that I am so glad to see Rihanna MOVING in the video. I mean she is super stiff (too used to whining instead of bopping), but her entire swag is PHENOMENAL.

I'm obsessed with the girl honestly! The stylist for the video set nailed everything! Rih's hat in the scene where she, Jay and Yeezy are on stage give off the I'm that b*T(H feel! I love the simplicity of Jay and Yeezy's get-ups. They're not competing with Rih nor the rest of the crew. They also did a great job nailing the outfit changes for Rihanna - that was actually interesting to see her look change throughout.

Overall I give this video a funky, fabulous NAIL IT 10!

Naomi Sims

At the tender age of 61, we have lost one of the crowned jewels in our 'black girls take over the world' movement. Naomi Sims, one of the first black "supermodels" passed away on August 1st 2009 to the monster that is Breast Cancer. As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, my condolences go out to her family and may she rest in peace.

On a lighter note, I want to take this time out to thank Ms. Sims for being a trailblazer.
During a time when black women were only viewed as good enough to iron your clothes and be your maid, Naomi Sims was gracing the cover of magazines such as Ladies Home Journal, Life & Cosmo. Ms. Sims aided in breaking the color barrier by showing others that our black is beautiful and more often times than not, more beautiful than yours!

Taking a stance and setting examples for other young black women is extremely important and Ms. Sims did it with dignity and pride. Turning down a role to play Cleopatra because of the movies racist undertones, Ms. Sims retired from the industry and began to make her own path by becoming an author and penning various books to help black women achieve their goals. Ms. Sims also started her own wig collection in the 70's.

Ms. Sims Nailed It! And I want us all to take inspiration from her life to begin writing and executing our own journeys. It's our stories to tell and we must begin to tell them so that we can continue to take over the world, one sassy, intelligent and beautiful black girl at a time.

I am still baffled at the fact that Kelly Rowland was a co-host of the Bravo TV show The Fashion Show. AS IF! It's like everyone all of sudden knows so much about fashion, but really they have no CLUE! I can't believe that the show was based on such commercilization of the industry. I mean yes, people want to buy clothes, but sometimes fashion is to be misunderstood; its not to be worn and its not for everyone period. Somethings are to be cherised! I mean Rico's feather dress - AMAZING. I'd definitely wear it to some special occassion or to sashay around the house. I mean hell we have one life right - why not wear it to the grocery store too. Needless to say the watering down of the industry MUST STOP~!

The best thing Kelly has done for me lately was rocking well manicured bloody red painted nails. It's such a classic look and works well with all skin tones. This she nailed. The Fashion Show, mi na know.

Ladies if you love red, but just aren't sure which hue is right for you, here's 2 quick tips:

1) A red with a more orange base-warmer- works well on fair to medium skin tones (Essie's Fifth Avenue - fab red/orange color looks great on toes as well)

Tiny was out and about at her 34th birthday celebration sporting TIP on her ring finger and roses on her index finger and pinky. It was kinda cute, I must admit.

Mocca stained lips, bronzed skin and beautiful bright brown eyes are the perfect combination for a killer fall look. If her nails were dripping in a deep luscious color this look would have been complete!

There really are no words to express what the world felt yesterday or what I felt. Michael Jackson is gone. No more fly dances. No more sick video world premieres. No more MUSIC~! Many times imitated, but never ever duplicated. I remember as a little girl I was actually petrified of Michael Jackson - can we say THRILLER? I HATED the video. My sisters used to make me watch it and they would laugh at me as I cried when he transformed into a wolf and the zombies came out lol oh the memories.

Then one day, Rock With You came on TV I must have been about 5 or 6 and there he was. Shining from head to toe singing to me "I wanna rock with youuuu yea alll night/dance you in to the sunlightttt/i wanna rock with you yeaaa alll night/wanna dance the night awayyyy" and I fell HARD. Not only was he jamming in the video alone with the sickest moves, he gleamed! All the shit I LOVE.

Michael Jackson was a true visionary whose visions actually came to fruition - how many of us strive to do that today? how many artists can say they have accomplished that great feat? Not many. I mean the man was the absolute most FAMOUS person in the WORLD~! There will NEVER EVER BE another Mike J. We have lost a great man with a pure heart. Before everyone wanted to get political and talk about saving the earth etc Michael had done it - Man in the Mirror, Earth Song, Heal The World, Scream, They Don't Care About Us etc. etc.

Who's going to be around to debut the SICKEST videos on the planet? His videos were mini-epic episodes of greatest - Remember the Time?!?! Before Bussa Buss had African themed videos reminding us all of our favorite movie Coming to America - MJ Did it first! Magic Johnson, Eddie Murphy, Iman in his video!!!!! Who's going to show the youngins how to really "shake down to the ground"? What other music artist do you know that had a video game for SEGA?!@ I played that damn near every day. He was a trendsetter!

I could go on and on about Michael and his accomplishments, achievements and contributions to the world and music. All I can say is - "keep on with the force don't stop/don't stop til you get enough" Michael Jackson definitely NAILED IT~!

This past weekend loads of celebs were out and about doing shows and having a blast, but where the hell was the MANICURIST?!? Two of my FAV It girls definitely did not receive the stamp of approval this weekend and normally they NAIL IT!

Mistake 1 :/

Miss Keri Baby what happened?!@ Fierce outfit. Check. Hair. Check. Microphone Check 1, 2, 1, 2, but where was the pop of color on those bare hands? This look should have been topped off with a color that is dynomite. Even an electric blue to match the electric blue patch in her leggings would have done the trick.

Next time Miss Keri let's kick the hands up a notch - otherwise she looked tres fab ;).

So So, this time you didn't know so. Lately, you have been the queen of funk, risk taking make-up, MINKED out nails, you name it, she's done it. This time I'm just not sure what you were going for. It looks less edgy and more like your fingers got slammed in a door. No bueno mamita. I heart you anyway.

The thrill of shimmer is out of the window and the more muted/matte look is totally in for fall! The beauty of this look is that matte polish provides the perfect palette to make a fashion statement with your nails. Mix it up with a gloss lacquer and watch magic before your eyes.

Brands like OPI (slated to launch their matter collection in July) have a small disclaimer on their bottles - matte should be used when trying to make a "statement" and does not last as long as regular OPI Nail Lacquers. Well dolls matte it up and don't be afraid to Nail It!

Is the summer here? Is it still winter? Is it fall? I mean what the heck! Since we can't have picture perfect weather, the next best thing is to have picture perfect nails and create your own illusion of summer. There is no better color to make you feel in the 'spirit of fun in the sun' than PINK! Cliche? Maybe, but who doesn't smile when presented with the beautiful palette.

I don't think I'm ever going to get over Rih Rih. Whoever dresses her, whatever swag gets turned on when she walks out the door is just SICK! This CoverGirl better work! Her makeup for last nights DKMS Gala at Ciprani was flawless. The natural shimmer and subtle pink undertones complimented her extremely well. This was a much better look for her than the night prior where she looked like one of the Golden Girls - hated her makeup for the Derek Lam event.

I can't really see her nails (bummer), but it appears as if she has on gold polish with some sort of black design - I guess I'm going to have to start going to these red carpet events so I can get the photographs I need!

I'm not going to even elaborate on how long it's been since I've put finger to keyboard to bring you some news, so i'll end it at that! To say the least, Spring is in the air, it's a new year, I am feeling good and I am ready to begin my journey! Wherever it takes me I am ready to go and on my way there, trust that I will be well manicured ;)!

In saying that, before I make the full transition from Wicked to Flirt, I found this image of Paula Patton donning a fantastic berry shade on her nails in an ode to late blues singer Billie Holiday (image is from a Glamour magazine article about African American female icons - Work it!).

The color was so perfect that on my trip to Nails & More this weekend, for the last time - until September rolls around - I am going to paint my 10 fingers and 10 toes with a fantabulous berry color. As I stare at my hands and feet, i'll remember how much fun I had this winter, my berry toes and me and i'll sing to them "Goodbye, let our hearts call it a day But before you walk away I sincerely want to say....I wish you blue birds in the springgggggggggggggggggggggggg"

November 4th 2008, will forever be etched in my mind, heart and soul! We NAILED it! Barack Obama 44th President Elect of the U.S.of A~! Can you believe it! I was ecstatic and elated to be a part of history in the making. My President is Black. He is a reflection of our struggle and our progress, our strengths and our weaknesses, our perseverance and determination. My stride is a little swifter, my steps that more meaningful. I walk with my head held higher, a different sense of pride. To feel the pain and joy of what we have endured as a people and the challenges that we will continue to face all in one day was absolutely phenomenal. And in true fall fashion Bruised is the 'just right' purple, not too light and not too dark, to keep you on trend. Have fun with color this fall/winter and always remember that Beauty is to the Rescue :).

P.S. Concrete Jungle (much darker than how it appears to the right) is not a part of the collection, but is a definite must have for fall. And their nails are undoubtedbly fabulous! My favorite brand, OPI, has launched a mini Halloween nail collection dubbed Get In-Spider-ed that features four fun shades for the Halloween season. The mini nail kit not only includes fun decorating tips, but super cute nail decals as well. The four colors are indicative of the typical goony goon palette of Red, White, Orange and Black - except the fun factor here is the white shade, The Ghostess with the Mostess, apparently glows in the dark. The other shades have been done before Spiderella = OPI INK, Heeeeere's Jack = Brights Power and Red-y to Strike = The Thrill of Brazil.

If you definitely have to add to your collection, as I will without a doubt, I'd 100% go for The Ghostess with the Mostess - it's a must try!

Party Like a ROCK STAR~!

So a bit off topic, but well worth sharing are images from Vivienne Westwood's Spring 2009 London fashion show. Not only did models slink down the runway in avant guarde styled fashions, but the beauty palette was more like fall vs. spring. Dark stained lips and barely there make-up made the looks feel more vampire-ish than cherubic - but I loved it! Deconstructed knits, meticulously placed lace and sequence, and sicker than sick shoe options proved that you don't always have to go Alice in Wonderland for spring.

Menspiration was ever-present in the collection. Models graced the runway in vests draped over dresses, printed and khaki colored boy cut shorts, oversized blazers and what appeared to be stripped boxers shorts peaking out of khaki shorts -Androgyny at it's best.

The shoe game showed more of Westwood's point of view, feminine with a twist. Strapy heeled platforms some laced all the way up the leg, Jesus be Cool-esque sandals, muffin top closed heels with open toes and ruffle inspired heels provided an additional vision of fantasy and pleasure.

One of my favorite looks consisted of a multi-tiered skirt of grey and beige paired with a PVC sweetheart collared jacket, headband and killer lace-tied shoes. Another fantastic look paired a black trench (the main ode to spring in this collection) with lace up the leg platform sandals, khaki shorts and super chic shades. Can someone say incognito? If you want an edgy look, whether its rock n' roll or you just simply want to try something new, it just doesn't get any better than this!

Metallic Attack~!

Normally, you save the glitz and the shimmer for the Holiday season or that fancy black tie event you might be so lucky to receive an invitation to -well that was back then and now ladies wait no more for those special occasions! Metallic nails are the new it shade for fall and can be worn at anytime, for any event and during any season. The best thing about Metallics is that the color pigmentation is usually deep so only one coat is required - which means less time for you to dry and more time for you to show off your haute nails.

Classic Metallic color palettes for fall are Champagnes, Bronzes, Silvers and Pewter or Silver/Gold if you will. All shades work can function as neutrals and will match almost anything - and for those of you afraid to try color, Metallics provide the perfect opportunity for you to dibble and dabble just a bit before you completely take the venture into the 'color' side.

Because I consider myself a nail dare devil and have probably tried shades that most people wouldn't dare, I have below my top three reasons why you should go for the Metal glow:

1. Add pizazz to a monochromatic outfit with a burst of sheen.

2. Because Metallics, are bright they give nails the illusion of length.

3. Simply put - it's Chic.

Last fall we were all over the inverted manicures - white cuticles and dark nails was the IT look. Whether it was done professionally or not, it was a hot trend and definitely added spunk to any look. On my 25th birthday I paired a white cuticle with OPI INK colored nails. My outfit consisted of dark navy and black sequence French Connection top, Madison Marcus sleeveless jacket and shiny spandex pants from American Apparel - if I must say so myself I was fresh 2 death!

But I was most excited about my nails. I sat in the salon for almost an hour with the nail technician explaining to her exactly how I wanted my nails to look. How much white I wanted to show and whether it should take the natural shape of my nails or be a little bit more triangular in shape. While it was fun for that week, I thought the look would die hard! If you didn't have the right person creating this masterpiece for you, it just wasn't fun.

As you can see in the piece the look is back in all its glory and Chanel Iman is fiercely wearing it~! This fantabulous spread, yes fantabulous (fantastic and fabulous) featured in the Fall 2008 Time Style & Design supplement is absolutely exquisite! I mean check the stance as Iman poses off in YSL embroidered pants.

What intrigues me most about Chanel is her level of professionalism and maturity - it totally shines through. One of the most coveted models in the game right now this young firefly has had the opportunity to grace a many of catwalks wearing the sickest

outfits of our generation. Not to mention if I had the chance to get my hands on the embroidered Bottega Veneta silk coat I think

I might just kale over and take my last breath~!

Spring 2009 Fashion Week Part 3 - Rodarte for the Heart

The common beauty thread for Spring 2009 is natural with a kick of UMPH~!

The Rodarte sisters' collection for the season was rough and ready. Models glided down the catwalk into the future wearing cut out footless stockings and Grecian inspired dresses. Though the pieces were a bit costumey, the overall effect was posh and sophisticated. The beauty palette created by Deborah Lippman for nails and M.A.C for make-up worked the scene as the ultimate accessories to complete the look.

Ironically named Fashion, Lippman painted the sandy color polish on nails of Rodarte models. A perfect complement to the beige/peach pieces in the collection. Unlike nail trends of past seasons - brights, pastels, loud- earthy tones ruled the runways for 2009. I don't know about you all, but I think this time around I might be ready for the change. Come spring 2009 you just might see me strutting down the block in the new funky neutral shades of the season.

Spring 2009 Fashion Week Part Deux - Zac Posen Golden Goddess

Zac, Zac, Zac, while I am never surprised by his creativity and solid artistic vision, I must admit that I was elated to see an emphasis on the nail palette of Zac's models. Zac is always ahead of the curve in ideation and for spring 2009 he will not let us down. His models sashayed down the runway with an exclusive custom made polish color from Deborah Lippman. The sleek shade was conceptualized by Posen and created by Lippman for a unique look that would complement and accessorize his collection. If I have to say so myself, this was one of the best designer/beauty collaborations for the season. They were dead on with the color palette and truly painted a picture of this goddess of modern day - this new woman on the go and with the 'glow.'

Not only did Lippman create this fantastic golden shade, she also mixed 2 colors from her fall collection, What Ever Lola Wants and Icing on the Cake (to be launched next month). Chic and sassy were the ladies of Posen and the uber cool purple lipstick was to die for! And as a side note, fret not my pets as Lippman is slated to launch the custom shade in her spring 2009 collection - if that happens you will definitely be the first to know!

Spring 2009 Fashion Week Part 1 - 3.1. Phillip Lim Natural Beauty

I haven't even started my fall shopping yet and I'm already focused on Spring 2009, but that's the way it goes in the world of fashion and beauty - 15 steps ahead, never 15 steps behind! And who else would lead the charge for 2009, none other than Phillip Lim of course. For his Spring collection models were 'made up' by lead makeup artist Ayako, International makeup director for NARS - btw NARS is my absolute favorite cosmetic brand. Ayako chose a chic natural beauty palette to coincide with Lim's earthy looks.

Fashion week favorites, Creative Nail Design, created a special shade of bronze polish to cap off the look. The color acts as a neutral complementing every outfit in the show. CND, it's an absolute must that you create this color for the masses! It's a MUST have.

What can I say? This was the fastest summer EVER. The days and nights simply flew by; I anticipated spending a significant amount of time writing and getting readers, but my time always felt limited! Well no mas~! I am back after enjoying the last days of the 4 day work week and hanging out with fam and friends. We will get into the swing of things this week, with updates from Mercedes Benz Spring 2009 Fashion week and new fall product launches.

I know I still owe you that promised review on the Zoya fall metallic collection and I will deliver! In any event, yesterday I made my weekly trek to Nails & More on 98th and Broadway and delved right into fall colors - Lincoln Park After Dark for my nails and Wicked for my toes. I was so ecstatic to not be blinded when I glanced down at my nails.

I told you guys before that fall is here and I am soooo ready to take it on - in full color~!

People it's that time of year again~! And I LOVE it! BARNEY'S is having their amazing Warehouse sale which started today and will end on Monday, September 1st! This is never an event to be missed. My personal strategy is to go closer to the end of sale as the prices are slashed from the first couple weeks AND they usually roll out more items to choose from!

I just wish the beauty counter participated in this fete :(. Then I would REALLY rack up. Well kids, have a great time finding spectacular fashions that will compliment that perfect manicure and pedicure - check for peep-toe Loubs and Chloe shoes to go with the fun purple shades of the season.

Today I received ZOYA's new Fall 2008 collection Pulse and cannot wait to try~! Though the image doesn't show (I know I took it with my camera phone-I'll start uploading from my digicam soon), the polishes are vibrant metallic colors with subtle sparkles that should look fantastic on the well nailed this season.

I'll try them out this weekend and post real, clear images of how the colors appear and give my opinion on the BUST and the MUST! The collection consist of six shades from Rasperry Wine, so wisely named Rihana :), to Blackberry Plum Sloane that should carry you through winter without a chip! ....As soon as you arrive home you check your mailbox for Sephora's Fall beauty issue~! I arrived home this evening and opened my mailbox to retrieve my Sephora Fall beauty issue-as I knew it would be there waiting for me ;). I am always excited about the new looks and product options they provide and gosh darn-it Sephora is my FAVORITE place on earth - well one of them.

I LOVE the fact that I can consider myself a Beauty Insider because Sephora said I am~! To my hearts desire, as I flipped through the Fall issue just 5 pages in, was this page on Sephora and OPI's new nail enamel line! The collection includes 54, yes I blinked twice as well, 54 shades. 6 new shades for Fall range from bold Beige to winey-Red. I can't wait to get my hands on the collection and try it out for you all. Product review soon to follow~!

...You dash to the beauty wall at drugstores. My second love affair is with the drugstores around the city, namely CVS. Without fail everytime I walk into CVS or any drugstore for that matter I sashay directly to the beauty wall to check out any new or old beauty offerings. Yesterday I had to pry myself away from purchasing, for the second time, 2 OPI polishes from last season, Black Onyx and Russian Navy (maybe i'll purchase them next week). I love the colors and they are still very relevant for the Fall season!

...You believe that your nail polish is an accessory to your look. I believe this WHOLE-HEARTEDLY. I mean there are often times when you may feel like your entire look is not complete if your nails are bare or chipped or just not the right color. Color accessorizes our outfits. It adds that final touch to the overall look we are aiming so high to achieve.

I believe all women should consider nail color to be a part of their entire look - not just the bag and the shoes. I want to hear "I love your nail color" just as much as I love to hear "What a great bag!" Beauty is the ULTIMATE accessory and nail color should be number 1.

So my favorite person in the WORLD ok ok I am exagerrating, but I do have a soft spot for my fellow Bajan Princess - Ms. Rihanna~! Yes people do not hate, Ms. Thang is poppin and has it going on. In her latest trendsetting fashion spread in ESSENCE magazine, Rih Rih rocks some hot attire as well as funky Metallic nail colors by China Glaze that will keep us all feeling and partying like Rock Stars this fall. My fav is the Metallic Silver. Throughout the spread Rih sports a serious array of colors from gold to shocking silver. Not to mention that I am really digging her look with the yellow plaid dress - the grey Moschino hat definitely adds some flavor! She also wears a really nice shiny brown in the spread. I mean you can't really get flyer than her right now. You just CAN'T~!

Speaking of China Glaze they have launched their Fall color collection Rodeo Diva consisting of 12 deeply hued shades that will keep us all coming back for more. It's Been Too Long

So I apologize for the time duration between my first posts and this one, but I promise that this will not happen again. There is so much to tell and so little time! I HAVE to make this a priority. I mean you need your news, tips, tricks and everything else it takes to keep yourself looking FAB. So before I go into new news, I wanted to provide you all with the products I use to go along with the tips I provided you eons ago! Yea I know its a while back, but cut me slack!

I'm sure everyone knows how important it is to keep a nail file in your handbag, but a 4-point file/buffer is the ultimate necessity. You can do it all with this one, even out the rough edges, buff and shine the nail bed, and smooth out ridges. I purchased this at Walgreens for 99 cents people, 9-9 cents! Studio B product line.

Fantastic quick dry top coat that actually really does dry your nails fast! I have tried other brands and let me tell you this is by far the best! And unlike some other quick dry top coaters this one actually does have the "shine" element to it so nails are not dull. You can find this at any beauty supply store.

This cuticle groomer is pretty much the same exact one that salon professionals use. It's compact and you can carry it around in your make-up bag. I get this from any drug store that sells Sally Hansen and I even bring it with me on my weekly trips to Nails & More.

One of my favorite products and brands might I add; it leaves the skin around your nails feeling sultry smooth and your cuticles picture perfect AND the subtle shea butter scent isn't bad either. You can find this at any L'Occitane location or online.

Fly High to 90210

As I caroused the Internet today checking for the latest and greatest in nail enamel options I stumbled upon two cool launches that were both worthy of sharing.

According to British Vogue, UK based cosmetic company USLU Airlines has teamed up with French designer Bernard Wilhelm to create a funky line of polish colors named after famous international airports abroad. From MBX (Maribor Slovenia) to BEY (Beirut International Lebanon) and available in 6 awesome colors it's the easiest way to get your trans-Atlantic fix. Polishes can be purchased at http://www.usluairlines.com/ or http://www.uslubw.blogspot.com/. Prices are in Euros, but polishes are about $35 a pop.

By now we have all heard that the CW is creating a spin-off of the famed 90's TV show Beverly Hills, 90210 and as briefly told to the world by NYLON Magazine, our beloved friends at OPI have decide to launch a limited edition line of polishes after the old crew. I can only imagine what types of names the colors will have; maybe even Prudy Petudy Donna will have a tout - and we would hope so considering how the real life Donna is vying for her piece of the re-creation pie. Details have been a bit mum on this front, but I'll be sure to post an update as soon as more informacion becomes available :).

Tractor Trailer

So I looked down at my nails this afternoon while writing up this proposal at work and to my dismay it appeared as if a tractor trailer (OK I know I am exaggerating) ran over them~! Uneven, slanted on the right, chipped on the left side on and on ~ just a hot mess. I pulled out my file and buffer to immediately rectify the situation and for now it will have to suffice; until my Friday ritual of a Manicure and Pedicure at Nails and More on 98th n bway.

To say the least, I want to prevent you from gasping for air in the middle of the afternoon as you take a glance at your hands. Here are some quick tips to avert you from a mid-afternoon tizzy ~ created by me of course ~ professional commentary to come later; I did just create this blog you know :)

Carry a mini nail file and buffer with you at all times -that way you can be sure to maintain a beautiful nail appearance and repair snags and chips like a professional.
Try a coat of clear polish once a day. This will keep nails strong to minimize breakage and a little bit of shine doesn't hurt either.
Push cuticles back to create cleaner lines on the nail bed. Trust, it will help nails to appear much neater.
Moisturize cuticles to prevent the skin from breaking.

I myself missed my own tip and failed to put a clear coat on once I removed the color. Just make sure you follow the above and don't make the same mistake.

Just the beginning

Welcome to Nail It 10 ~ your one stop shop for all there is to know about your 10 fingers and your 10 toes :). Being a nail fanatic and knowing that there are a plethora of women out there just like me, I decided that the best way to share my desire and obsession to the world was to welcome you into my nail psyche via a blog. You'll be exposed to my frustrations and my elation with my favorite past-time polishing my nails and toes.

I also want the world to understand that Nail Art as I like to think of it, is not a second thought. It's something that accessorizes our entire look, it can make or break the way we feel about our day. If my nail is chipped or if I find a snag, I'm pretty bummed! I want to draw the comparison between nail art and fashion and provide the world with wonderful options to pulling it all together, making it all work!

Of course i'll do the regular stuff like review product, nail salons, provide great tidbits and more, but my desire and aim is to provide that "aha" moment where you found the one thing that was missing-and I think that one thing is 2 coats of Lincoln Park After Dark any day! :). I hope to show you great fashion show coverage and behind the scenes in beauty - a look into exactly what happens and how much thought goes into the beauty/looks and trends of the season; plus there may be a few other exciting things posted for your reading pleasure - like great sales hello SAKS, BARNEYS, BENDEL.
